Emu Eggshell Earrings

These earrings are made from an emu egg that has been emptied and then dyed and etched in the pysanky (Ukrainian) tradition. I use a tool called a kistka to write on the egg with melted wax, which resists the dyes and acid. When the design is done, the wax is melted off. I then cut out the earrings, sand the edges and apply coats of a UV resistant epoxy, making them durable.
